The CAMBODIAN CHILDREN Organizing Committee needs
volunteers, each with different talents and skills, to
assist us in helping these children. Experience has
taught us that in the past when volunteers worked with
us, the children bonded with them very quickly - they
are so needy - that when the volunteer eventually left,
the children were depressed and actually felt abandoned
all over again. They do not understand why the
volunteers can't stay forever.
Medical experts tell us what the children need is
constancy in their lives and to see the same people
around them every day. So to provide this we employ
Cambodians on local salaries to do all the work
previously done by volunteers and this seems to work
well. I am sure you will understand this philosophy.
There are also issues regarding Public Liability Insurance which
make having volunteers financially risky for us. But if
you are ever in Cambodia we would welcome your visit for
half a day to see what the children do.., so please do
keep in touch.
What can you do to help? How can you help street
children that are in need or help those who work with
children in trouble?
You can be involved and commit a small part of your life to
volunteering with Cambodian Street Children
organizations that are already caring for these homeless
children in Cambodia .
What are
the benefits of volunteering?
You,
as a volunteer, will take home more than new skills
and unforgettable memories. You will be called upon
to use your talents in many ways. You will also gain
the personal satisfaction of knowing you were
instrumental in bringing about positive change for
the benefit of these unfortunate Cambodian
children. You won’t just be helping these children
but also future generations to come because children
are, indeed, the future.
All
volunteers will be trained for 4 hours the first
day. This training covers the layout, policies, and
procedures including health, safety and emergency
protocols for our organization. Due to our goals and
the variety of projects we will be working on,
volunteers will be asked to work anywhere from 4 to
8 hours on any given day of the week. Your support
